CTPM Australasia is committed to ensuring that each and every student who undertakes a Nationally Recognised Qualification or Unit of Competency with CTPM receives the highest quality training possible. We have also summarised below, the policies in place relating to the training and assessment provided by CTPM.
Unique Student Identifier (USI)
From 1 January 2015 if you are undertaking nationally recognised training delivered by a registered training organisation, such as CTPM Australasia, you will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
One of the main benefits of the USI is that you will have easy access to your training records and results throughout your life. You can access your USI account online from a computer, tablet or smart phone anywhere and anytime.
If you wish to create your own USI and not have CTPM apply for it on your behalf, please visit www.usi.gov.au and follow the required steps. If you wish CTPM to apply for a USI on your behalf, you must supply a form of identification to verify your application. Acceptable (current) identification include:
- Australian Passport
- Non-Australian Passport (with Australian Visa)
- Australian Birth Certificate
- Australian Driver's Licence
- Medicare Card
- Certificate of Registration by Descent
- Australian Citizenship Certificate
Important: Students cannot be issued with a Qualification or Statement of Attainment unless a valid USI has been supplied or created.
Once a USI has been established, you are able to provide CTPM permission to access your USI Transcript online so that we are able to:
- Check if pre-requisites have been completed;
- Identify any Credit Transfers that may be available; and
- Assess whether your eligible to receive government funding for your course.

All students of CTPM Australasia have their fees directly negotiated with their employer. These fees are charged to the student’s employer and therefore at no cost to the student. For information about fees under the Smart and Skilled funding program please visit our Smart and Skilled page.
Generally our fees are charged to the employer in arrears, and therefore we do not expect to provide for refunds. However if employer negotiations end with fees being charged in advance, and if a refund claim is made, then this will be heard and evaluated on its merit by the Financial Controller and CEO.
Student Withdrawals from a course will not incur any penalty, but all training delivered to the student up until that point, must be paid in full by the employer.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfers (CT)
CTPM recognises that students will have acquired vocational skills from a variety of different sources. These skills are valid irrespective if they are acquired through workplace experience which can be captured through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process, or through formal nationally recognised training which is captured through the Credit Transfers (CT) process.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning is an assessment process that assesses the competency of the student that may have acquired previous learning, and determines if the student meets the requirements specified in the relevant training program. For those students who identify an interest in RPL on enrolment, an RPL Information Kit will be made available to the student. From there a completed RPL Application Form will be required to formally start the evaluation process. The evaluation of RPL applications may attract a fee, however this fee will be negotiated with the student’s employer at the time of application.
Credit Transfer (CT)
A Credit Transfer is a credit towards a qualification granted to a student on the basis of outcomes gained through participation in courses or national training package qualifications with another RTO. It is available to all students enrolling with CTPM in any of our training programs. All AQF Qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other RTOs will be fully recognised by CTPM. These qualifications will be recognised and where appropriate used to reduce any training program being offered by CTPM.
Defer or Withdrawal from Training
CTPM staff will make every effort to assist a students continuation in training. If unsuccessful in their endeavours and the student still wishes to defer or withdraw from a course, they should notify a CTPM staff member who will assist them with completing the appropriate paperwork. If enrolled in a Traineeship, CTPM will assist the student contacting and completing appropriate forms provided by the Australian Apprenticeship Centre.
Please Note: Students may defer their training for no longer than 12 months from the date of notification. If this defer expiry date is reached, the student will be withdrawn from the course.
Support and Assistance
CTPM will assist all students in their efforts to complete our training programmes. In the event that a student is experiencing any difficulties with their studies we would recommend that the student contacts their trainer, or CTPM’s Compliance Officer on Ph: 02 4226 6184 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org immediately.
The staff member will ensure that the full resources of CTPM are made available to ensure that the student achieves the required level of competency in all accredited courses. If the students needs exceed our capacity we will refer them onto an appropriate external agency.
Complaints and Appeals
CTPM will respond and deal with any student complaints or appeals against our decisions, including assessment decisions, in an effective and timely manner.
In order to make a complaint or appeal, the student will need to contact CTPM’s Compliance Officer on Ph: 02 4226 6184 or via email email@example.com to obtain a Complaint or Appeal Form. Once the form is completed, CTPM will review the form at our Weekly Review Meetings to ensure that it is resolved efficiently and fairly, as well as contribute to the continuous improvement of our process.
If the student is still not satisfied with the resolution from our internal complaint or appeal process then they may contact the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and make an official complaint. The student will need to visit ASQA’s website www.asqa.gov.au and follow the prompts to lodge an online complaint form.
